When It Comes to Branding, Consistency is Key!

WilliamsC_W5A2The American Marketing Association (AMA) defines a brand as a “name, term, sign, symbol or design, or a combination of them intended to identify the goods and services of one seller or group of sellers and to differentiate them from those of other sellers.

Therefore, it makes sense to understand that branding is about getting your prospects to see you as the only one that provides a solution to their problem – a company that already demonstrates consistency and credibility. It’s a foundational piece in your marketing communication – one you do not want to be without.

Brand consistency plays a critical role in establishing your presence both on and offline. Not only should your message be consistent, but your online and print messages should be reflective. For example, if you have chosen a logo, tagline, primary colors, and primary graphical elements – they should match across all marketing communications.  So, your website design should be consistent with your logo, business cards, brochures, give-a-ways, social media sites, and any other materials you have chosen to create to REPRESENT YOU AND YOUR BUSINESS!

In other words, to give consumers and colleagues a clear depiction of your brand, you must deliver a cohesive message across all advertising channels.

Think about some of the most recognizable brands that have exceptional consistency, such as Progressive, Coca-Cola, Nike and Ford. It does not matter how big or how small you are, brand consistency implies professionalism, trust, confidence, and strength! So, the question is. . .
